The Story Behind The Oatling Bakery

I grew up loving oatmeal cream pies.

In a big family, they were one of those treats that never lasted long. If a box appeared in the kitchen, it quickly became a race to grab one before they disappeared. Like so many people who grew up in the 80s and 90s, I remember the soft oatmeal cookies, the fluffy cream filling, and the excitement of peeling open that wrapper. They weren't just a snack. They were part of childhood.

Years later, I reached for one, expecting the same soft cookies, fluffy cream filling, and little bit of childhood magic I remembered.

It wasn't there.

The flavor, the texture, and the experience I remembered had been replaced by something that felt... different.

That moment sparked an idea.

What if I could bring back the oatmeal cream pie I remembered?

Not one filled with preservatives and artificial ingredients, but one made fresh in small batches using simple, wholesome ingredients.

So I started baking.

One recipe became another. Then another. Batch after batch, I chased the cookie I remembered until I finally created something that brought me right back to being a kid again.

And that's how The Oatling Bakery was born.

Today, every Oatling is baked fresh to order in my Virginia home bakery using simple, wholesome ingredients, then carefully packaged and shipped nationwide.

Meet Oatie, Our Bakery Guardian

Every great bakery needs someone watching over it.

That's where Oatie comes in.

Oatie is our mischievous little bakery guardian. He's convinced every batch needs his "help," even if that usually means sneaking frosting, taste-testing cookies, making a mess, or finding himself in situations he definitely shouldn't be in.

If you've seen our videos, you've probably already met him.

He's become the heart of our bakery and reminds us not to take life too seriously.

The name "Oatling" eventually took on a second meaning. While Oatie is our little bakery mascot, the oatmeal cream pies themselves have become lovingly known as Oatlings.

Every Oatling Is Made to Feel Special

Every Oatling is handmade in small batches and baked fresh to order using simple, wholesome ingredients.

Each one is generously sized at approximately 5.2 ounces and 3.5 inches across, making it far more than an ordinary oatmeal cream pie. They're soft, chewy, generously filled with our signature cloud-like cream, individually sealed for freshness, and carefully packaged before making their way to your doorstep.
